Welcome to the Place Where We Are "Wild About Reading"
Summer Reading Forms need to be returned to school by Monday August 30 in order to have prizes and certificates made up by the first library visit. Please have your child give them to their teacher and they will get them to Mrs. Stevenson in the library.
Taking Care of Library Books
At the beginning of each school year students in first and second grades receive instruction regarding taking care of their library books, and this information is reviewed in third through fifth grades. In order to avoid unfortunate events, I would like to enlist parents' help in seeing that our few simple rules are followed when your child brings home a library book:
- Have a special place to keep your library books where younger siblings and pets cannot get to them.
- Be sure hands are clean and dry when handling library books and do not eat or drink while reading your library book.
- Never leave your library book out of doors.
- Always use a proper book mark (nothing thicker than card stock) to hold your place.
Thank you for helping to keep our library books in good shape so all can enjoy them for years to come
Volunteers Needed
There are many ways that volunteers can help in the library. If you would like to be involved with your child's class and serve in the library at the same time, you can sign up to be a "library mom." Library moms come to the library with their child's class every other week and assist with book check-out and shelving of books that have been returned. This is a vital service as it frees our librarian to work directly with the students while they are in the library.
However, if you prefer to volunteer at a time when the students are not present, there are many tasks that you can help with. Processing new books, copying, and shelving are just a few examples. Please call or email
