1. Welcome to Kindergarten. I enjoyed meeting you Thursday and Friday and look forward to a great year.
2. Wordlist homework: Will not start until next week.
3. Unit – Our first unit will be “All About Me.”  Please be sure to send in a baby photo, current photo, and family photo, ASAP.  We will use them this week.
4. Names – On Tuesday we will be talking about our names.  We will talk about what our names mean, and who we might be named after, who named us, and why we were given that name.  Talk about this with your child.  You may want to write the info on a piece of paper so I can help your child share his/her info with the class.
5. Volunteers –I appreciate your willingness to help this year. I will get in touch with you when we are ready to begin certain things.
6. Pick –Up – Please be sure that you have and USE a sign with your child’s name written very boldly for pickup.  Put the sign in your windshield so it can be clearly seen.  It would be very helpful to share this system with anyone else who will be picking up your child.
7. Late for 12:30 pick-up????– Any child not picked up by 12:45 will be taken to the primary playground where Lunch Bunch is supervised by Mrs. Mooneyhan until Mrs. Warren or I get there. If you are late for pick up you must go to the office and get a release form and give it to Mrs.Mooneyhan, in order for your child to be released from her care.  Mrs. Warren and I are sharing Lunch Bunch this year, with me being there on Mon. and Thurs., and she being there Tues. and Friday.  We will alternate Wednesdays.  Lunch Bunch will take place in the classroom at the opposite end of our building from our class.
8. Bumper Bowling – I am working out details for this field trip to take place either Thursday, Sept.9th or Friday, Sept.10th.  More details next week!
9. Dads, mark your calendar.  On Friday, Sept. 24^th , from 8:00-8:45 A.M. you are invited to come to our class and enjoy having a donut with your kindergartner.  If you are unable to come and there is another special man in your child’s life feel free to invite him.

I am still looking for help with the following:

1. A photo parent.  This person will help me with getting pictures of classroom events to Kelly Wynn who is the parent doing our school yearbook.

2. Field trip coordinator.  This person helps with calling parents to drive on field trips.

3. Library parent.  This person helps children check out books from our classroom library.

4. Mrs. Stevenson, our school’s librarian, is also looking for parent volunteers in the school library.

5. Morning greeters are needed at both drop off places in the morning.  These individuals greet children at their cars and see that they safely walk to their classrooms.

Thank you so much for your willingness to help this year.  I know many of you have young children at home and I appreciate your help with things that I can send home with you to do.  If you ever have a time that your other children are cared for and you want to spend some time helping in the classroom just let me know.  The biggest way to help is praying for our class and our school.  I covet your prayers this year for wisdom, patience and for ways to communicate God’s truth to your children.
