Dear Parents and Friends of CCS,
Great news!
CCS has just been notified that we passed its reaccreditation protocol with the Association of Christian Schools International and Cognia (the group that accredits public sector schools and colleges). This achievement is a culmination of 18 months of hard work by every member of the school team.
CCS is also accredited by the Evangelical Association For Financial Accountability, sort of a “good housekeeping seal of approval” for the conduct of our finances.
Accreditation is an important step for schools aspiring to be extraordinary, since it involves a deep dive by a third party team into every aspect of the school’s operations and performance, from finance to teaching to security.
CCS received ten commendations from the visiting Team, an amazing achievement. There are also recommendations for improvement, around such topics as facilities, staff compensation, policy governance.
Fortunately we were able to predict those, and so there were no surprises in the Team’s report – other than the volume of commendations!
This was truly a team effort, highlighted by the incredible work of Mrs. Lawson Smith and the Steering Committee. Thank you so much for your great work.
I want to also thank the parent focus groups and the Board of Trustees – these folks went above and beyond to represent our school with honesty, honor and grace.
People sometimes ask me:
Why is this a big deal? Aren’t schools that are not accredited just as good or better?
My response:
Well, they might be, but since they have not submitted every domain of their operation to outside professional scrutiny, it’s hard to know for sure.
In any case, we know that God has ordained that CCS continue the ministry He called us to some 48 years ago, and that He has faithfully sustained us through the complexities of ministry, especially in the 21st century.
And yes, it’s good to know we pass muster through a rigorous inspection process.
But we are not complacent, and will continue our march toward extraordinary, by the grace of God.
May He receive the glory for this recognition, and may He strengthen us to continue His mission, for the good of our wonderful students.
For CCS and the Kingdom,
Tom
